I’m Emily, a writer and mother of two living in Northern California with my family. Welcome to Quotidian Wisdom, a blog about finding beauty and inspiration through paying attention.
Quotidian Wisdom is about living simply and intentionally, appreciating life’s joys while becoming aware of things to surrender and let go of. It’s about being present to notice the beauty at the core of our lives. I set up this blog to share experiences with like-minded seekers on this path we call “daily life”, because our present experience is the source of everything we need to learn in order to grow, thrive and ultimately live well, live fully and be happy. Each of us has a part to play, and it is exactly the life that we are leading right now.
How can each and every one of us live in a way that honors our one wild and precious life, fraught as it is with the ups and downs and distractions of the world? There are many practical tools that we can apply in day to day to bring us back to a place of happiness and peace; including being present, surrender and gratitude. During times of great abundance and joy, we can appreciate it fully, savor it and enjoy life. During times of trauma and difficulty, we can seek out the wisdom and meaning at the core of the experience, and find gratitude in that. Thus all experiences serve our own growth, gratitude and happiness.
I’ve experimented with this way of living for the past five years. It has never failed to change my perception of any experience or situation, no matter how difficult or challenging. On the contrary, it has opened my eyes to the sense of freedom available to was all, when we become aware of the beauty of life and the significance its experiences hold. Often just by sharing our stories with others we can come to a place of acceptance. To live life in this way is a pleasure, though it takes practice. My intention here is to share my experience with this process, in discovery of the beauty, inspiration and wisdom in daily life.
